6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts different Parts of Pakistan

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck at 00:18 PST on Monday, 1 September 2025, with a depth of 15 km and epicenter located at latitude 34.82 N and longitude 70.74 E.

According to seismological reports, tremors were strongly felt in Peshawar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Hangu, Malakand, Swat, Chitral, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. So far, no immediate reports of casualties or damages have been received.

ساون سے پہلے جب راول ڈیم کی تصویر ٹریل 5 سے کھینچی تھی، پانی کی سطح حیران کن حد تک نیچے جا چکی تھی۔ وہ منظر کسی ویران جھیل کی مانند تھا۔ اب، چند ہی ہفتوں بعد، پیر سوہاوہ روڈ سے لی گئی نئی تصویر میں منظر بالکل بدل چکا ہے. بارشوں کے بعد پانی اس قدر بڑھا کہ اسپِل ویز کھولنے پڑے۔ بظاہر یہ بھرپور اور شاداب منظر خوشی دیتا ہے، مگر کیا ہم نے کبھی سوچا کہ یہ صرف سطحی خوبصورتی ہے؟ کیا ڈیم کی اندرونی حالت بھی واقعی اتنی ہی بہتر ہے؟ کیا آپ کو یاد ہے کہ آخری بار اس کی باقاعدہ صفائی کب ہوئی تھی؟ مجھے تو نہیں یاد، نہ ہی کسی اور سے سنا۔

بارشوں سے پہلے، جب پانی کا لیول خاصا نیچے جا چکا تھا، ایک بہترین موقع تھا کہ ڈیم کی صفائی کر کے مٹی نکالی جاتی اور اس کی گنجائش میں اضافہ کیا جاتا۔ مگر افسوس، ہمارے ہاں بااختیار طبقات اہم فیصلے کرنے میں ہمیشہ تاخیر کا شکار رہتے ہیں۔ ایسے مواقع بار بار نہیں آتے، اور جب آتے ہیں تو ضائع ہو جاتے ہیں۔

ڈان نیوز کی دسمبر 2022 کی رپورٹ کے مطابق: راول ڈیم 1962 میں تعمیر کیا گیا تھا، اور آج بھی اسلام آباد اور راولپنڈی کے لیے پانی کا اہم ذریعہ ہے۔ مگر وقت کے ساتھ ساتھ اس میں مٹی بھرنے (silting) کے باعث اس کی اصل گنجائش 40,000 ایکڑ فٹ سے کم ہو کر صرف 30,000 ایکڑ فٹ رہ گئی ہے۔ واسا اور اسمال ڈیم آرگنائزیشن نے اس کی گنجائش بڑھا کر 68,000 ایکڑ فٹ تک لے جانے کے لیے تجاویز تیار کی تھیں تاکہ آئندہ پچاس برس کے لیے پانی کی ضروریات پوری کی جا سکیں۔

اسی تناظر میں ایکسپریس ٹریبیون نے مئی 2025 میں رپورٹ کیا کہ: راولپنڈی میں بڑھتی ہوئی آبادی، زیرِ زمین پانی کی کمی، اور دیگر علاقوں سے ہجرت کی وجہ سے پانی کی قلت ایک سنگین مسئلہ بن چکی ہے۔ شہر کو موسم سرما میں 51 ملین گیلن یومیہ (MGD) پانی درکار ہوتا ہے، جس میں سے 10 MGD راول ڈیم سے، 6 MGD خانپور ڈیم سے، اور 30.5 MGD ٹیوب ویلز سے حاصل کیا جاتا ہے۔ موسم گرما میں پانی کی یومیہ طلب 70 MGD سے تجاوز کر جاتی ہے، جب کہ قلت 19 MGD تک پہنچ جاتی ہے۔ رپورٹ کے مطابق، حکومت نئے منصوبوں جیسے چہان اور دادوچہ ڈیمز پر کام کر رہی ہے، اور ساتھ ہی راول و خانپور جیسے موجودہ ڈیمز کی صلاحیت برقرار رکھنے کے لیے اقدامات بھی زیر غور ہیں۔

مگر یہ وقتی ریلیف ہے مستقل حل نہیں۔

ہمارے ملک کو ایسے کئی نئے ڈیمز کی ضرورت ہے تاکہ بارش کا قیمتی پانی ضائع ہونے کے بجائے ذخیرہ کیا جا سکے۔

کلائمیٹ چینج کی وجہ سے حالات دن بہ دن بگڑ رہے ہیں۔

جہاں پہلے مئی، جون، جولائی میں بورنگ کا پانی کم ہوتا تھا،

اب تو فروری اور مارچ میں ہی پانی ختم ہو جاتا ہے۔

وجہ؟

بےترتیب تعمیرات، درختوں کی کٹائی، سڑکوں پہ سڑکیں،

اور پلاسٹک کا بےدریغ استعمال۔

اس سنگین مسئلے کا حل کیا ہے؟

چھوٹے ڈیمز، شجرکاری، اور واٹر ہارویسٹنگ۔

واٹر ہارویسٹنگ کا مطلب ہے بارش کے پانی کو ضائع ہونے سے بچانا۔

Written Test & Interview

Candidates applying for various positions will undergo a written test designed and administered by the Education Testing Council (ETC). The test will be conducted in five major cities; Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta. The ETC team will inform candidates about the venue, date, and time of the test. ETC will communicate the test results to both the candidates and Wafaqi Mohtasib. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be conducted by Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat, with the schedule to be announced by Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat.

Note: Original documents with verified copies (verification must be obtained from concerned board/ university with their stamp) will be checked for the shortlisted candidates at the time of interview.
